A Global Exchange of Stories: from Seoul, South Korea to Kentucky, USA
Bryan Station High School, Kentucky, recently hosted students from Kwangshin Broadcasting Arts High School (광신방송예술고등학교), South Korea, for a powerful cultural exchange. Although these schools are 6,800 miles apart, the project proved that stories can bridge any distance.
The exchange was led by Evan Barker, Narrative 4 Programs Manager, and Dr. Ron Chi, Fayette County Public Schools Chief Innovation Officer and former principal. Dr. Chi saw the trip as an opportunity to foster genuine connections across borders and cultures. The students came together for a Story Exchange that bridged the gap between their primary languages (English and Korean), making room for the participants to find common ground and understand one another.
Fayette County Public School teacher Namkyung Goh translated the Story Exchange instructions to the visiting students, guiding them through specific steps and the intent behind the programming. The resulting exchange of stories deepened the bond between the Kwangshin students and their host friends at Bryan Station.
