Narrative 4’s work spans classrooms, campuses, and communities across the globe. From local partnerships to national and international networks, we use storytelling to build connection, strengthen leadership, and empower young people to create change—wherever they are.

The United States

Across the United States, Narrative 4 partners with schools, universities, and community organizations to build connection and belonging through storytelling. From classrooms and campuses to civic and community spaces, Story Exchanges and facilitator training support compassion, leadership, and engagement in communities nationwide.

South Africa

In South Africa, Narrative 4’s Community Center in Joe Slovo township supports civic engagement through storytelling, education, and essential community programs. Initiatives like the “Trash to Treasure” program turn shared action into impact—addressing food insecurity, environmental care, and youth leadership while strengthening community connection.

Argentina

In Buenos Aires, trained facilitator Mariana Crespo of Enseñá X Argentina has led the implementation of the Narrative 4 Learning Journey with elementary school students.

Bulgaria

In Bulgaria, Narrative 4 comes to life through FUNtazia and the leadership of Polina Kotseva. An accredited EQ/SEL expert and Narrative 4 facilitator, Polina integrates emotional intelligence and shared storytelling into impactful Story Exchanges for youth and adults.


Since 2023, 1,750 Bulgarian youth have connected through Narrative 4 Story Exchanges. Ninety-seven facilitators have been trained, and 375 school and organizational partnerships formed. “Обичаме България!” (We love Bulgaria!)

Canada

Narrative 4 found its “True North” home at the University of Toronto, with a strong focus on integrating Story Exchange in higher ed. Led by Professors Rosa Hong, Liz Coulson, and Shekoufeh Sakhi, N4 Canada is also partnering with nonprofits like Harmony Movement, delivering Story Exchanges in English and French.

Colombia

Narrative 4 has expanded into Latin America through collaboration with La Fiesta de la Palabra in Bogotá. The organization delivers Story Exchanges to educators and community groups across the region.


Thirty educators have been trained in Bogotá, reaching 17 communities across Colombia.

Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, Narrative 4 partners with the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art to bring storytelling into schools, libraries, and cultural spaces. Through educator training, festivals like FALL, and year-round Story Exchanges, N4 is expanding access to compassion-driven learning across more than 60 schools.

England

Student leadership through story is happening across UK schools, youth organisations & universities. Narrative 4 UK empowers our next generation of youth leaders through skills training that breaks down barriers, foster compassion and curiosity and creates resilience.

France

In 2025, Story Exchanges (Échanges de Récits) took place at Université Grenoble Alpes and Centre des Langues INDEX in Grenoble, the Institut Franco-Américain in Rennes, and through teacher trainings in three new secondary schools in Paris.


 “In going into this experience of a first Story Exchange, I had not expected the depth of impact that I would feel – while I was listening to my partner’s story, I realized how important it was to pay attention to the details of what they said, and the experience taught me that I must always try to be a better listener in the future.”

Germany

Narrative 4 is growing across Germany through a vibrant community of newly certified Story Exchange facilitators in Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg, and Oberursel. A 2025 highlight included HOGY School Stuttgart participating in a youth exchange with Kabulonga Girls School in Zambia.


Narrative 4 has trained 12 dedicated educators who are leading workshops with youth across five cities.

Ireland

Narrative 4 was established in Ireland in 2016. Working in partnership with schools across the country, Narrative 4 uses the power of Story Exchange to foster compassion, connection and a sense of belonging among young people and their wider communities.

The Narrative 4 Empathy School Award is the organization’s flagship program. Recent initiatives include intergenerational Story Exchange projects, a cross-border exchange connecting young people in Limerick and Belfast and Girls’ Stories, a project amplifying the voices of migrant girls.

Israel

In Israel, Narrative 4 trained educators to lead Story Exchanges and community-based projects across secondary schools and local organizations. Through sustained professional learning and dozens of new Story Exchanges, teachers and students built skills in listening, perspective-taking, and connection across differences.


In 2025, Narrative 4 Israel trained 90 new facilitators, served 700 youth in schools, ran 3 professional learning communities sanctioned by the Ministry of Education, and established 74 new school partners.

Italy (including Vatican City)

Across Italy and Vatican City, Narrative 4 is weaving storytelling into spaces where culture, curiosity, and humanity meet. Through locations such as Opera di Santa Croce and Todo Modo, a small but growing group of trained facilitators is expanding Story Exchange work.


In 2025, Narrative 4 was invited to the Vatican to lead a Story Exchange workshop with 130 young professional communicators from 62 countries as part of the Jubilee Year inaugural conference on storytelling as a force for repair and social change.

Kenya

Present in Mombasa and Nairobi, N4 Kenya has seen significant growth especially in 2025. Kenya was the first East African Hub and has now settled in as one of the zones for innovative programming.


“In partnership with Creative Visions, N4 Kenya is implementing the Unique and United program, which will run through 2026. The initiative is designed to engage at least 1,600 students across 40 schools in two cities.

To support this work, 80 teachers have been trained as facilitators. The program equips young people with the tools to create works of art that express themes of unity and diversity among youth.”

Mexico

Narrative 4 in Mexico has been building a culture of compassion across the country since 2021. By integrating the Story Exchange into schools and NGOs, we bridge social divides and empower youth. We further distinguish our reach through the School for Parents, a signature initiative that equips families with practical tools and workshops designed to embed the N4 principles into daily life.

Nigeria

Nigeria was the first hub for Narrative 4’s school-based operations. Over the past five years, N4 Nigeria has grown from strength to strength, establishing a strong presence in Uyo, Lagos, Kaduna, Ibadan and Abuja. Through partnerships with schools and organizations across the country, N4 Nigeria has connected with thousands of students, expanding access to Story Exchange and civic engagement programs nationwide.


N4 activities in Nigeria reached a peak in 2025, with more than 30,000 students participating in Story Exchanges and learning resources nationwide.

Palestine

In partnership with Tomorrow’s Youth Organization (TYO) in Nablus, Narrative 4 delivers trauma-informed storytelling programs that support youth leadership and community resilience. Through Story Exchanges and facilitator training, participants build connections, reclaim their voices, and strengthen bonds in one of the world’s most complex regions.

Rwanda

N4 Africa’s newest region, Rwanda, is the most recently established hub. In a country with a deep tradition of storytelling, N4 Rwanda has quickly taken root, operating with the efficiency and steadiness for which Rwanda is widely known.

Now present in more than 30 schools, the program’s reach has also expanded into higher education, including partnerships with institutions such as Kepler College.


In 2025, Kigali took part in the three-months-long Cities school challenge, with 10 schools, 50 facilitators and over 500 students participating in the pilot.

Tanzania

N4 Tanzania operates in both the mountainous city of Arusha and the coastal city of Dar es Salaam. Established in September 2021, N4 Tanzania now includes more than 80 schools in its network and has facilitated extensive story and cultural exchanges across the region.

Dar es Salaam hosted N4’s first East Africa inter-school story exchange, bringing together more than 250 students from 10 schools across the city. Arusha also hosted a successful inter-school exchange, further strengthening connections among students and educators.

Zambia

Narrative 4 started operations in Zambia in March 2022 with a training in Lusaka comprising teachers from 8 schools and has since then grown to include over 30 school partners in Lusaka, Livingstone and Kitwe.


“2025 marked one of the highlights for N4 Zambia, as Lusaka executed the Cities School challenge, as well as one of our partner schools – Kabulonga Girls getting an opportunity to travel to Germany on a youth exchange with HOGY school in Germany.”

Zimbabwe

Narrative 4 has trained facilitators in Harare and Bulawayo, working with community organizations such as Tree of Life Foundation and leading inter-school Story Exchanges in Harare.
