Narrative 4 Ireland trained 749 facilitators and reached 22,470 young people in one year alone, making 2022 one of our most successful years ever!
Our 2022 impact report is properly titled, because in 2022, we made a big impact.
In addition to the 749 facilitators we’ve trained and 22,470 students we’ve reached, there are now 249 post-primary schools with one or more trained teachers across the Emerald Isle. One of them is St. Dominics College, in Ballyfermot, Dublin. St. Dominics College is one of eight Irish schools to receive our Empathy In Schools Award in 2022.
“Both the students and teachers really benefited from the activities,” said Sister Liz Smith, Principal of St. Dominics.
“I am delighted the 22,470 students across Ireland got to experience the power of storytelling in 2022,” said Colum McCann, Narrative 4 Co-Founder and President. “I am grateful for the teachers and their schools and organizations who have embraced the Story Exchange and Narrative 4.”
Congratulations to the fellow Empathy In Schools Award winners: Mungret Community College, Limerick; Pobalscoil Inbhear, Co. Kerry; Clonturk Community College, Dublin 9; Hartstown Community School, Dublin 15; Coláiste Iósaef, Co. Limerick, Lauren Hill Coláiste, Limerick; and Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh.
Last month, PBS NewsHour featured a heartwarming segment on Narrative 4, as part of its Art in Action series. Senior arts correspondent Jeffrey Brown explored how Narrative 4’s signature Story Exchanges are helping young people build compassion and bridge divides—whether political, cultural or socioeconomic.
