Carnegie Corporation of New York wrote a feature on N4!

This week, Narrative 4 was honored to be featured by the Carnegie Corporation of New York in their article, “Your Story, My Story: How Narrative 4 Builds Understanding”. The piece spotlights the power of our Story Exchange in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and captures the global reach and impact of storytelling in building compassion and connection across communities.

There is also evidence that Americans feel disconnected from each other. A 2024 Harvard report found that 21 percent of Americans report suffering “serious loneliness,” many of them describing disconnection from their friends, families, and communities. Loneliness, in turn, can feed polarization. A 2021 study by RAND Corporation, a Carnegie grantee, identified loneliness as a key contributor to extremist views and political radicalization.

Carnegie’s profile couldn’t come at a more urgent time. A 2024 study from Harvard found that 21% of Americans report experiencing “serious loneliness.” At the same time, 2025 Carnegie Fellow Jacob Brown’s research shows rising levels of political polarization within neighborhoods across the United States.

Against these alarming statistics, Narrative 4’s mission, centered on compassion, active listening, and human connection, offers a powerful counterforce. Through Story Exchanges, students and educators are not just learning about one another. They’re building bridges, challenging assumptions, and transforming the culture of their schools and communities.

We’re grateful to the Carnegie Corporation of New York for shining a light on our work and affirming the vital role storytelling plays in creating connection across an increasingly divided world.👉 Read the full article here: Your Story, My Story
