Introduction:
5 minutes
- Say: Today we are going to be focusing on how we can use our imagination with someone else through storytelling. You will be paired with someone in this class to create a story together, switching back and forth between storytellers. You will need to use the details that your partner added to the story to continue the story.
- You may use one of the prompts below, create your own prompt, or allow students to come up with a prompt.
- It all started on the first day I became an astronaut…
- Tell a story about a group of children that encounter a monster.
- Tell a story about someone with the ability to enter other people’s dreams.
- Say: Once you know your prompt and your partner, decide who will be Partner A and who will be Partner B. Partner A will begin telling the story. After 30 seconds, Partner A will stop telling the story and Partner B will pick up the story where it left off, using the same details. This activity will require you to practice listening deeply to one another!
- Give students time to determine who will decide who will be Partner A and who will be Partner B.
