Regain Focus
It’s absolutely understandable that a comment or behavior can derail the group from the Story Exchange process. Leading the group in regaining focus can get everyone back to the work at hand. Can sound like: “It seems like you have some questions about your partner’s story, but right now we are listening to folks share their story without interruption.”
Listen, Affirm, Respond, Expand
When someone brings up an issue during the Story Exchange, you want to listen and gather any additional information you might need to have a full picture of the situation. Can sound like: “What you are saying and what you are feeling is valid. Can you say a little more about…”
