N4 Boosts Brainstorming and Bonding in Berlin as part of Education First’s (EF) Global Leadership Summit
Education First’s Global Leadership Summit in Berlin, “Creating Sustainable Future”
Once upon a time the city of Berlin was the poster child for division. But how the times change! Education First (EF), a world leader in international education, partnered with N4 as part of its Global Leadership Summit in Berlin, which focused this year on the theme “Creating a Sustainable Future.” Students got a chance to learn about Berlin’s unique, complex history and culture before coming together for three days to bond and brainstorm. They explored how to confront global challenges, in particular, thinking about how to create a sustainable future.
N4 led over 800 students—plus 200 hundred educators and chaperones!—from across the world in a summit-wide Story Exchange. All told, over 800 stories were exchanged, equating to 800 lives enriched and expanded!
N4 was proud to be one of ten global organizations invited to present at this summit that helps develop young leaders poised to become the changemakers of tomorrow. Prior to the summit, N4 staff met with their EF counterparts in mid-April for some Story Exchange facilitation training. With the help of N4, EF staff conducted their first Story Exchange as part of the summit, introducing students to how deep listening and curiosity can help them in their roles as future leaders. Students then put those new-found skills to work during the Global Leadership Summit’s “Design Thinking Challenge,” where groups pitched ideas and designs to help solve community-wide problems.
N4’s influence continued on during the summit as N4 staff onsite in Berlin—Lee Keylock, Director of Global Programs, and Tai Schroeder, Pacific Northwest Regional Manager—conducted story exchanges for educators and chaperones interested in learning more about N4’s work.
