Introduction (5 minutes)
Say: Today we are going to engage in some creativity at the Tattoo Parlor! We will be learning about our group through a drawing activity. I would like each of you to start thinking about something that defines who you are, something you really care about, or something that is a big part of you. Think about an object or image that could represent that ‘something’.
- Teacher/facilitator shares a personal example (ie- “For my tattoo, I am going to draw a canoe because it shows an activity I love to do and how I enjoy being connected to nature.”
- Give students at least 2 minutes to brainstorm the image they can draw that defines them. They can write these ideas down or keep them in mind. If time, allow 1-3 students to share their ideas with the whole group.
- If needed, you can share more examples:
- A tent- followed by a story about an important camping tradition
- Initials for a sibling, best friend, etc and why they are so loved
- A book- symbolizing a love for reading and their favorite book
