Launch: What is “vulnerability”?
10 min

  • Launch the lesson by inviting students to jot short answers to a simple question: “What is vulnerability?”
  • After jotting down short definitions and explanations, students share their responses with the group.  Responses are collected, recorded & displayed for reference throughout the lesson.
  • Present students with a simple single-axis graph.
    • Say: “Most of your responses addressed the connections between vulnerability and risk.  We can use a graph to imagine how we might measure our own vulnerability in a situation, moving from lowest risk to highest risk.”
