Introducing the Story Exchange
15 minutes
- To begin, explain the process of the story exchange to participants and explain why you’ve chosen to run this story exchange with this particular group of participants today.
-
- Say: Today we are going to experience a story exchange. During a story exchange, two people will be partnered to share true stories from their lives based on a story prompt. After exchanging stories, you will rejoin a larger group to share your partner’s story from the first person perspective.
-
- Model the story exchange for your participants. If you have two facilitators, one person will tell a story from their life based on the prompts your participants are using today. The other facilitator will model retelling the story that was told.
- Show directions, prompts and pairings to participants and direct them to where they will be sharing stories in pairs.
