Introducing the Story Exchange
15 minutes

  1. To begin, explain the process of the story exchange to participants and explain why you’ve chosen to run this story exchange with this particular group of participants today.
      • Say: Today we are going to experience a story exchange. During a story exchange, two people will be partnered to share true stories from their lives based on a story prompt. After exchanging stories, you will rejoin a larger group to share your partner’s story from the first person perspective.
  2. Model the story exchange for your participants. If you have two facilitators, one person will tell a story from their life based on the prompts your participants are using today. The other facilitator will model retelling the story that was told.
  3. Show directions, prompts and pairings to participants and direct them to where they will be sharing stories in pairs.
