Narrative 4 Honors Darrell Bourque at the Louisiana Book Festival

We kicked off our year-long, 10th anniversary celebration at the Louisiana Book Festival in Baton Rouge with a panel discussion and special tribute honoring the life and legacy of Darrell Bourque, two-time Louisiana Poet Laureate and one of N4’s founding artists.

Narrative 4 has been particularly lucky to have benefited from Darrell’s incredible talent and vision as an artist and an educator. He helped guide us in the early days of Narrative 4 and he’s been a continual beacon in all of the years leading up to our 10th anniversary.

Following a rich and enlivening discussion about the transformative power of stories, N4 Co-Founders Lisa Consiglio and Colum McCann presented Darrell with N4’s first annual Global Empathy Award.

Artist, humanitarian, scholar, historian. Darrell’s love of language and storytelling, along with his generosity of spirit are felt by all who come into his orbit.

Our Co-founders join N4 Artists Network members in honoring Darrell’s creative legacy. From l. to r. Elliott Woods, Dean Ellis, Lisa Consiglio, Dolen Perkins-Valdez, Colum McCann, Maurice Carlos Ruffin, Ru Freeman, and Darrell Bourque.
