Narrative 4 selected as Amazon Literary Partnership 2023 Grant Recipient
New York, New York (July 20, 2023)— The Amazon Literary Partnership today announced that Narrative 4 received a grant to support its program and operations. Narrative 4 is among the list of 93 Amazon Literary Partnership Grant Recipients this year. In 2023, the Amazon Literary Partnership awarded nearly $1M in funding to literary nonprofit organizations.
The Amazon Literary Partnership supports writers to help tell their stories and find their readers, empowering writers to create, publish, learn, teach, experiment and thrive. Since 2009, the Amazon Literary Partnership has been committed to uplifting and amplifying the voices of overlooked or marginalized writers by supporting the literary community through grants to writing programs and nonprofit literary organizations, including groups like Narrative 4, a global education non-profit, whose mission is to build a global community of compassionate youth by bringing joy, sparking imagination and fostering meaningful connections through storytelling.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of the Amazon Literary Partnership. This grant will bolster our storytelling-led educational programs that are designed to help students cultivate compassion, bridge cultural differences and engage their communities in civic action,” said Lisa Consiglio, Co-founder and CEO. “Our ability to provide students from all backgrounds and geographies with the space and resources to connect through literature – in and outside of the classroom – is crucial to our mission and made possible, in large part, thanks to our enduring partnership with Amazon.”
Narrative 4 believes that stories have a transformative ability to break down barriers and encourage meaningful connections between people of different backgrounds. The Story Exchange, Narrative 4’s main compassion building program, is designed to help students see their shared humanity through an exercise involving the exchange of personal narratives with a partner and retelling their story in the first person. Narrative 4’s Learning Resources, Artist Network and Community Engagement programs engage educators, mentors and community to further support students’ social-emotional development.
“It’s an honor to fund these vital institutions that support writers in all aspects of their writing career,” said Al Woodworth, Manager of the Amazon Literary Partnership. “At Amazon, we believe in the power of the written word to expand our thinking, advance our empathy, and change our world. We are grateful for the incredible work that these organizations do to champion writers and their stories, today and every day.”
