For the first time ever, thought leaders, students, youth corps members, and the next generation of Africa’s aspiring leaders came together to explore the role of compassion in cultivating effective leadership, and develop the skills to lead with heart.
The one-day event was hosted at the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, and was moderated by Nabilah Usman, broadcast journalist for Radio Now, and a trained Narrative 4 Story Exchange facilitator.
The event was highlighted by a speaker series, including heartfelt addresses from Joseph Onokpe, Regional Manager, Narrative 4 Africa; Buchi Onyegbule, Narrative 4 Head of Africa Operations; Angela Omeiza Ochu-Baiye, CEO/Founder; Olufunmbi Kehinde, Legal Counsel, Lekoil Limited; and Hakeem Onasanya, Head Startups (Lagos Innovates).
After the speaker series, the participants were divided into groups for an intimate masterclass where the speakers further expanded on their presentations.
“The summit was a strategic discourse designed to highlight empathy and compassion as essential leadership attributes,” said Onokpe. “We wanted to show young people that by juxtaposing these attributes with effective governance, policy implementation, and accountability, we can engender meaningful change.”
